While we try to include every story published in the physical magazine in the audio magazine, we do exclude selected stories.
Sometimes, we've made this choice because our editors feel that a very short or visual story does not translate effectively into the audio format.
In other instances, The Atlantic has not been able to obtain permissions to release a particular article in audio format. In either of these cases, we apologize for not being able to provide this story and hope you enjoy the rest of the issue.
You can adjust the playback speed of an audio article in the app by following the steps below:
- Tap the audio file you’d like to listen to.
- A pop-up will appear at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the pop-up to expand the audio player.
- On the left side, tap the speed to change it.
You can remove the audio from your queue so it will no longer play.
In the Atlantic app:
- Open Settings and select My Audio Queue.
- Close the audio pop-up at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Edit in the top-right corner.
- Select the audio you’d like to remove.
- Tap Delete at the bottom of the screen.
- The selected audio will then be removed from your queue.
NOTE: We are currently working on a bug for the Android app that is causing the Delete option to be covered by the phones bottom navigation bar. While we work on this problem we would recommend that you adjust your phone settings to remove the bottom bar and use swipe gestures. You then should have access to the option.
Here are the steps:
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Go to System, then select Navigation Mode.
- Select one of the following options:Gesture navigation: No buttons.
- 3-button navigation: Three buttons for Home, Back, and App Overview.
